I mean, it happened to me occasionally with MTG. I’d be playing my game(keep healing, blocking, etc) till the opponent runs out of cards – and he’d be playing his game(kill kill kill fast as you can) and every now and then I’d accidentally win at his game. Once in a blue moon I’d win at my game. Most of the time I’d just lose. 🙂
Don’t you then get to choose the next game? I’m sure I read an unwritten rule like that somewhere…

I was actually semi-quoting a Star Wars novel, so I can’t claim it as my own.
Something like,
“It’s an unwritten rule.”
“How’d you hear about it?”
“I read it in a book somewhere.”
I believe it was in the 9th X-Wing book, actually, Starfighters of Adumar. I’m just lazy enough not to go find the exact quote, though, sorry.
I play other people’s games but I subtly include bacon.
