Nothing needed

I need to find a good source for fabric. I’ve got lots of sewing projects brewing in my brain, but lack the resources to bring them to fruition. Obviously fabric stores will be quite happy to sell me anything I might need, but they aren’t interesting in providing things cheap or free. See its all part of this new game that I play: “How can I make beautiful and useful things for as little money as possible?”

I suspect that when I truly NEED fabric for things, I’ll find it. Right now though we don’t really need much. Just today I considered taking a child free hour to go to some second hand stores when realized that there wasn’t anything that I really needed. I’d only be using up gas and putting myself into temptation’s path. Instead I used the time to read a good book.

So I guess I’ll take the patient approach and wait to see what opportunities to make beautiful things come to me.

  1. There is a slim possiblity that my mother still has a pile of fabric waiting on her storage room shelves for somebody to be interested in it. It may also have been cleaned out by one of my sisters but I’ll check and let you know. 😀

  2. material

I recently cleaned out the first bedroom closet and have two large plastic tubs of material. Tell me your favorite colors, textures, what you want for a dream project and when I come up on the 17th and 18th of this month I will bring material. Do you knit? I have two tubs of yarns. Most of my stuff is earth colors, browns, golds, greens, yellows, but I do have an occasionaly odditie(?sp) bought when I obviously wasn’t myself. Sue

  3. Re: material

I tend to use cottons more than knits and solid colors more than prints. Fancier fabrics appropriate to make sunday wear are definitely welcome. I’ll take whatever you are willing to give me. I don’t knit, but Kiki is learning to crochet. She loves greens and would love to get a supply of yarn to raid.

Any chance we’ll get to see you when you come up? It’s been ages since we’ve had a chance to say hello.

  4. Re: material

I have some green fancy-type yarns here Kiki is welcome to have. Given how light yarn is, shipping is negligible. I’m not going to make it through the 80 skeins I bought a few months ago at that 75% off sale 🙂

  5. Visit

yes, I will drop off some stuff if I can remember how to get to your house. A map or directions would be great. I will email you so you will have my email and can send directions. The 18th is our travel day home and we will have shopping for Kathie’s farm store and I have to hit a Wallmart for cat food and a sam’s club for us. But before we leave town we will swing by for a short visit. There are children I have never seen and I am looking forward to meeting them. see you soon. sue
