Open lettering of the list

Howard Open Lettered my upcoming birthday and amazon wish list. I have mixed feelings.

Yay! Maybe someone will send me something! I need to go add stuff to the list!

But I don’t really NEED anything.

Awww. Howard LOVES me!

Why should Howard’s fans send stuff to me? They should save their money for HIS birthday next month.

Should we really be begging for birthday presents?

All these thoughts and others roll around in my brain changing places and vying for supremacy. Howard tells me that already some people have ordered stuff. So instead of being a really small birthday it may be largish. I’m already feeling touched and grateful. I think the best gift of all is the tangible evidence that there are people out there who care enough about Howard and I to spend their time/effort/money on us.

The best “Thank You” I can think of is to continue to do all I can to make Schlock keep happening.

  1. Why should Howard’s fans send stuff to me? They should save their money for HIS birthday next month.

    Bah, I say…

We like you better anyways… 😉

And you “funny check” the thing… That makes you worth HIS weight in gold…

note: His weight, for I learned long ago to never refference the weight of a lady

  2. Pre-diet…

We here at ‘Rabid Fans of Schlock’ wish to maximize your value…

    And congrats on the losses…

And do you have like a Barns and Noble or Boarders wishlist?

    I have gift cards for those… 🙂

  3. You need to get used to it.

You and Mr. Tayler have been giving Schlock fans everywhere a gift — free of charge and no strings attached! — every day for the last several years. (And don’t tell me it’s all him and none of you, ’cause we ain’t buyin’ it.) People are, inevitably, going to give you gifts in return. Cope. 😀

  4. Well, alternatively to coping, the two of you could switch Schlock to a subscription-only model so that the fans would no longer feel like they were getting a gift and should reciprocate with gifts.

But I bet that everyone will be happier if you stick with the current model — and you’ll make more money, too. 😉

  5. I have a friend in Australia who publishes her own comic both online and in dead tree format, and makes it a point to send me a copy of every issue, even though I can read it for free at her website and I know the shipping cost to the States is about twice as high as the cost of printing the book. My attempts to compenstate her via PayPal were politely rebuffed.

Some people just like to give gifts. 🙂

  6. Re: You need to get used to it.

    Amen!

    Tell it from the mountain!

    Preach it!

    Sorry… I channeled a baptist congragation for a second there…

  7. You want the best of both worlds? Get people to send Howard money for Schlock -and- stuff to you for your birthday, so everyone wins. 😀 And Happy Birthday as well.

Besides, there’s enough of a fanbase out there that this shouldn’t be ruinous to anyone, period. Sit back and enjoy being appreciated enough by Howard’s fans to have people buy things for you. 😀
