I’m on facebook now

Concentration and focus are in short supply today. So naturally I decided to start a facebook account because that won’t be distracting. I’m still trying to figure out this social media networking thing. It has been really cool to discover how many people I know are already there. I’ve only had the account for a few hours and already a high school friend that I lost touch with has found me. I’m still figuring out how to find and friend people, so it may take me awhile to find everyone.

  1. What I love about Facebook is that it is as distracting or not as you let it–it’s great to go to old friends’ profiles and look at their pictures and catch up, but I can also just check the feed every day and see a random sampling of what’s up with some friends, and I feel caught up, you know?

I have a good 500-some friends on there right now–about 98% of whom I’ve known in real life either personally or professionally (the other 2% are people I know from the childlitosphere). There’s no way I can keep up with all of them–it’s like trying to drink from a fire hose, to quote a description I’ve heard. But just dipping in from time to time is great.
