The day after

I can now tell you that my children weren’t asleep last night. They were passed out from a sugar overdose. We had accompanying hangovers this morning. Naturally they tried to make it better by ingesting even more sugar this morning. The level of cranky was over the top. Fortunately we’re gradually reasserting normal levels of nutrition and organization. Hopefully most of the cranky will be banished by the time we get around to coloring eggs.

  1. On Saturday, we went to a Primary activity where they just gave our kids toys and candy (attached to games), then later we had a little family easter egg hunt and my in-laws had sent decorated pastel sacks full of candy. After they found the eggs and got the sacks of candy and added it to the Primary candy they said, “This is the BEST EASTER EVER!!!”
Then Ross had to go to work and I fell asleep. When I woke up I looked into their candy sacks and my son had EATEN ALL OF HIS CANDY!!!! (okay, everything except the jelly beans) sheesh!
We told him that we would eat our candy over the next week and he wouldn’t have any… after a while we found out that he thought we were going to eat our candy in front of him and make him feel bad for not having his candy. We had to reassure him that we’re just not that cruel.
BTW, after eating all that candy he didn’t really act any differently… maybe we need to cut down the normal every day sugar intake?
